What if Gin wasn't a Worgen? If she had gotten out, or been outside the wall when it went up all those years ago. How might her life be different?
Oh, I like this question.
I feel as if she would be less depressed, as the greatest part of her depression stems from the final few battles she helped fight against both the Forsaken and the Worgen in Gilneas. Delving into this further, however:
If I remember correctly, the wall went up prior to Gin’s birth, so for this scenario, we’ll say her parents made it out. Most likely, they would have attempted to make their way to Elwynn and ultimately Stormwind, where Gin’s father would continue his work as a metal smith. With access to different types of healing, Jon would have most likely lived, meaning her mother never turned to alcohol. In this scenario, her sister also never felt the need to join the rebellion and is still alive today. Gin, meanwhile, still joins the Royal Guard, but instead of retiring at the age of 23, she’d still be with them. She would definitely be less depressed.
If she had made it out rather than being born in Stormwind, she would still be depressed as her father and sister still would have died, and her mother would still be absent from her life. However, she would avoid the curse and escape with her wife; the next trick would be to avoid the Forsaken and their curse. Assuming everything went as planned and Gin and Charli make it out to Stormwind alive, she would be very happily married, still, possibly with an adopted child or two. She would still suffer from depression, but nowhere near as bad as it is with the Worgen curse.

Gin looks down at the large blue hands encircling her thin, pale wrists with a raised eyebrow before tilting her head up to meet the Draenei’s face. She makes a few feeble attempts at pulling herself free, but without injuring herself, the larger Draenei effectively had her trapped.
Gin grinned slowly, still trying to slip her wrists from his grasp, right hand clenched in a fist. “Well…y’caught me…wot now, gonna call tha guard?” She winks up at him.
