On July 3rd, 1984, there is an accident with a military drum at the Uneeda medical supply warehouse that creates a zombie. The body is cremated, but instead of solving the problem, it increases it exponentially. The body releases a gas that escapes into the atmosphere and causes a toxic rain, which begins to create brain eating zombie corpses. (Return of the Living Dead, flm)
