Reeeeal low effort one, but I wanted to get one out now that I'm feeling a little better. Also excuse to draw Kirby again (Sectonia ily)
Canonically, the Ancient Crown had innate wasp mind-control powers that it could bestow on anyone. Hoaxe just happened to be the bug to benefit from it. I've also seen the headcanon that Hoaxe, as a wasp mimic fly, had his natural abilities boosted by the Crown in more than one way; he had his fire magic, but he also had such good mimicry that when he put on the Crown, he went from passing as a wasp to passing as the king of the wasps.
But there's a third option that I find a lot more compelling!
Hoaxe is an ivy waspgrabber - Leopoldius signatus. He's a type of thick-headed fly, family Conopidae. Flies in this family are parasitoid and deposit their eggs in the abdomens of Hymenopteran insects like bees and wasps. The larvae hatch and feed on the host as they grow, then pupate in the host's shell before emerging from them as an adult fly.
But one thing separates this parasitoid from the others: the larvae have some kind of ability to control the behavior of their hosts. In later stages of their larva's growth, hosts will leave their nests and dig in the soil. Before they die, they bury themselves alive at the order of their parasite, providing a safer exit point for the fly to later emerge from.
So while I like the other explanations, this is the one I prefer. Hoaxe had the ability to manipulate the wasps because once he put the Crown on, it amplified all of his natural abilities, including the one he had as a larva to literally control the behaviors of other bugs.
Ok fine he's cool af !
day 24
hear now the story the ages have sold tales of the life that shall never grow old sacred ambrosia more treasured than gold and with it i change how the story is told
Trying to get the motivation to write Change of Plans, so hopefully drawing the soggy mess of a fly would motivate me.
While I was drawing this, I realized I might edit some of the fic before uploading the next chapter, as it has been quite a while since I uploaded a chapter, and I have a couple of changes. Well, only one, and that would be the clothes. He stays at the Termite Capitol, and I think it would be cool for him to wear some amount of blue. I am aware that Queen's caretakers are the only ones who would wear blue for the Queen; however, I would like to write that all termites wear some amount of blue for being some servant to the Queen, even if their only role is being a functioning member of society.
Anyways, I really need to work on this fic as I do think about it a bit. Hopefully you'll see something soon. No promises.
Hoaxe cause I finally figured how I wanna draw him!!! Gosh I love him a lot he is my favourite guy ever
Funy bug game
