Three years ago I was a senior in high school taking college classes and you told me you were proud of me for following my dreams and achieving things I never thought I could achieve. Now, I am a junior in college with an Associates of Arts degree in Dance going for a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Dance. This time next year I will be choreographing my BFA Senior Project, will be a dance concert based on none other than the one, the only, Taylor Alison Swift. Yeah, you are my inspiration, Taylor. I will be using dance to tell my own version of your story on stage from your debut album to the current reputation era. “A Place In This World” is dreaming about fame and trying to find who you are and where you belong, “Fearless” is falling in love for the first time and letting it blow you away, “Mean” is when the people around you use their words for evil instead of good and tear you down, “All Too Well” is the burning red love that didn’t go the way you planned and left a scar on your heart, “Clean” is finally letting go of your burdens and becoming a new person all on your own and not needing love or anyone’s approval, and “New Years Day” is finally finding who you belong with and hoping it never ends while you promise to hold on to the memories forevermore. This is a story about dreams, bravery, strength, heartbreak, freedom, and love. This is the true reputation of Taylor Alison Swift. I invite you all to join me on this journey to fearless, wonderstruck, gorgeous, delicate creation of a work of art, a piece of dance choreography that will be like nothing else in the world. I am making this project because of the love, passion, pride, and inspiration Taylor has brought to my life these past ten years. Just like writing and singing music is Taylor’s passion, choreographing and performing is dance is mine.
