y’know i just remembered something... in light of recent developments in the comic (the whole thing about steve wanting to take revenge) I remembered this tweet by gigi 

this, combined with the emerging character parallels from her other comic (where nk is the goddess with a dark past who has to put up a front for the sake of her people, and steve as the surprise antagonist introduced in the middle of the story with a score to settle with said goddess), can only mean one thing
