Cave of the Fire Wyrm || NightJack & FantaSpice
“Puta!” Fatima whacked the small rabbit, sending it flying a few feet before it disintegrated into pixels. She smirked, looking at her level bar, which was finally near the tipping point.
They were out in the middle of nowhere, far enough that with every step a little more of the map was being revealed. The island they were currently on was swamped in thick undergrowth that threatened a trip with every step. The moist, muddy ground had their feet sinking with each step.
She glanced behind her, looking at her partner for the quest. “Think we’re getting close?” she asked.
Jack found himself thankful to be on his partner’s good side, considering the passion with which she sent the rabbit flying. Despite the fact that the mud threatened to suck the +Def boots right off his feet, despite the fact that death pretty much literally lurked everywhere he turned in the game, he felt great. Hell, he felt wonderful. He smiled as he picked up the pace, matching his teammate’s stride as best he could.
“Think so.” He gestured with the tip of his sword. “There’s a break in the brush. Think I see some rock formation just beyond it.”
As good as he was feeling...he was definitely feeling a bit of anxious about the point of their quest. A dragon’s cave, or at least rumored to be a dragon’s cave, sounded pretty dangerous. The promise of rare loot as a reward, and definitely some good XP, was hard to ignore. Plugging away at rabbits, snails, squirrels and butterflies hadn’t done much for him in that regard.
“So...what’s the plan if the dragon’s actually in there?”
Fatima considered his words for a few moments, “Well… The only spell I know is Flare, so I can stun it for a second. We use that whenever there’s enough time and then you stab el bastardo con tu espada and I slap it with my stave,” she said. “You have any tricks up your sleeve?” She moved the wooden weapon in her hands, hitting one end carefully into her palm. It was almost easy to forget that this wasn’t really real, the way the wood moved in her hand.
Following his gesture, she peeled back one of the larger ferns that revealed a small clearing. On the other side was a large rock formation, covered in the heavy vines. From where she stood, Fatima could not see into the dark cave. “Think it’ll breathe fire or something?”
Jack took a step forward, not quite entering the cave but putting himself close to the forefront if something decided to bust on out of there. When nothing happened after a moment or two, he shrugged, glancing over his shoulder as he replied, “I would think so. I don’t have any spells...just this double swipe thing.”
