I love all the Astarion posts with the “where were you 20 years ago how dare you come to me when I am this” quote but all I can imagine is a human Tav sitting there like

You know, when you comment on the fact that Halsin is…larger than the average elf, his answer is basically “oh yeah I have no idea why lol”. Not “I get it from my mother” or “I get it from my father”. Which, to me, implies that his parents were perfectly average

So now I have this image in my head of two completely normal elves staring down at their behemoth of a newborn like “…I think…the clothes we made him are too small”

actually. listen to me. apparently the newer version(?) of the lost mine of phandelver (the starting point for here there be gerblins) takes place in 1491.

according to the taz wiki, the events of taz balance from htbg to story and song take 14 months. story and song happens on midsummer. midsummer 1492. midsummer is a day between two months on the faerun calender. it happens between the 30th of flamerule and the 1st of eleasis.

in baldur's gate 3, the player's adventure begins on the 20th of eleasis, 1492.

so in this fiction where taz and bg3 happen on the same reality, the hunger invades toril. adventurers save the world. hooray. and then TWENTY DAYS LATER, mind flayers "invade" the sword coast and the events of bg3 begin.
