With all the transitions I have had lately, I find myself being reminiscent of how I got to this point in my career. My origins trace back to my days studying design in Savannah, Georgia. My college years, where I was surrounded by art, design, and skateboarding. I met a lot of great people during those times, and Jasson Filipow of @p1brand was definitely one of them. It was great to reconnect with him over a few amazing curb/coffee sessions in LA and work with him on a guest artist series for my brand. In 2010 the UK design studio @ilovedust was becoming recognized globally by doing great work for Nike, Coca-Cola and Levi’s. How I talked the founding members Mark and Ben into designing a shirt for my first store opening is still a mystery to me. A lot of people have inspired me along my creative path, but I can say with all sincerity that I would not be where I am today without the art and design of @thisisandyjenkins. Growing up so far removed from California and it’s skateboarding community, I devoured every bit of information I could through videos and zines. It wasn’t until I came across Andy’s monthly comic, Wrench Pilot, in Transworld Skateboarding Magazine that I knew what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I would redraw his character, Lettus Bee, on my school notebooks in my efforts to identify with the elusive culture I longed to be a part of.
