I was having coffee with my friend and coworker @reeveser13 right after the tragic murder of George Floyd. Protests were erupting all over the country and you can feel everyone's discontent with the way things have been. A real change was happening and we were feeling conflicted about attending the protests during the pandemic. Both of us have young children and we are doing our best to keep them safe and healthy during these uncertain times. From that question, we came up with the idea to create a digital platform that allows people to add their voices to the growing chorus of discontent in this county. I spoke with artist and activist @killermike about the idea and he stressed how important this upcoming election is. We decided that the first initiative was to have our voices heard that we had enough! When I first moved to SF in the late 90's I lived in the smallest apartment anyone has ever seen. I walked out of that little apartment and was robbed for even a smaller amount of money than most people have ever seen. After this, I still thought it was the greatest city in the world. There is a lot of talks that SF is dead and people can't justify the high rents anymore because they are now working remotely. If you are only living here to better your career then it might be time for you to make space for the people that love this city. Just because your job doesn't require you to come into the office and your favorite wine bar is closed during the pandemic doesn't mean the city is dead. The city is more than that, and those passionate about this city will be here to build it back up and thrive again. Recently I have been getting a lot of angry and hateful replies to how I feel about the current state of the world. Instead of replying to every ugly DM or comment, I am putting this out there... If you take issue with the phrase Black Lives Matter, can't understand that if arrests can turn into murder, so can protest into riots, or think that it's ok for someone to show up to one of these protests with a rifle and kill people please unfollow me.
