Happy Bi Visibility Day!!
Yesterday was Boston Pride. This amazing human designed this costume, which I believe weighs 18 pounds and wore it all day long. He ended up leading the bi+ contingent which was organized by the Bisexual Resource Center. Everybody looked great!
some new gen discourse on tt about spn pisses me off as somone who's bi/queer
just saw sb say dean is straight bc he 'likes woman' and well not only is this bi-erasure/bi-phobic but I also feel like some straight ppl will never undertand the true nuances of queerness.
dean could be in the closet all his life, never be in a queer relationship, never tell anyone anything, have a loving wife and kids and he would still be queer.
honestly I find his storyline incredibly relatable and to hear people invalidate it because it doesn't fit their narrow-minded perception of queerness is deeply hurtful.
something personal about yesterday 💞💖 first time going to my local christopher street day out and proud!
it was 100% peaceful. the mood and music were a bit more contemplative than last year - i danced and cheered the later stage performances anyway - but we made our slogans heard and several rainbow clubs came into existence which makes bureaucracy much easier. i was going flagless the years before because i was terrified of being outed publically, although i know i'm bi for longer than a decade, no one has ever seen me with a man on my arm unless i'm yelling somewhere in the taemin tags, and had my first private coming out 9 years ago: contrary to my social fears i had a great time and stayed until the last themed speeches were over :) my town has CSDs only semi-regularly despite huge demand/need for visibility and working against the many local instances of discrimination, but since we elected a gay mayor things look slightly better for us. even in a smaller town. imagine kpop demon hunters, gaga, cher and britney being blasted in this grey, straight, catholic, bland, depressive, corporate- and ww2-ruined rural area. the sheer volume of our parade had people on the pavements and balconies dumbstruck to begin with lmao to my surprise no one was shouting at us, they either smiled or froze like WHAT THIS IS HUGE lol. funding and organizing community events (and sexual/mental health support) is so important bc i was surprised at the amount of bi and lesbian people in attendance, there were so many gay couples showing up holding hands, so despite the political climate closing in i feel like we're making huge steps being more resilient, cool, aware, educated, and vocal than ever and nothing can hold us back from shining.
non-discriminating flag 🩷💜💙
As a bisexual, Hudson Williams is so clearly bisexual that it's actually blowing my mind that people seem to be adamant that he's straight (almost angrily so.)
Not that it matters or it's our business. But it's just really kind funny that he's getting the girl bisexual treatment. Usual boy bisexuals get told they're really just gay. And girl bisexuals get told we're really just straight. But I think because he's on an mm series and people discovered that he has or has had a girlfriend (either currently or recently- this is also not confirmed by him), he's "another straight actor taking a queer role".
I'm kinda trying to find it funny because otherwise it's going to piss me off because I'm so tired of bi erasure. I mean, obviously he hasn't said the words "I am bisexual" with his own mouth. But bi people can clock each other better than gay or straight people, and it seems like both of y'all are so gung-ho to tell us we're wrong all the time...
Like, nothing about that man reads as "straight" to me. He reads mad chaotic bisexual. And he does and says very bisexual things. But as usual, whenever someone is bisexual, everyone straight and gay thinks they're joking or just playing around. All his interactions with Connor and the recent after party videos in which he dances with and flirts with men? "Oh he's just playing around/doing fan service". Any interactions he has with women that are flirty? "See! I told you he was straight!"
What if I told you there was a third option, and like, we're not even super rare?
You just don't understand us and so you think we don't exist or are liars.
Trust me, you just don't have a good bi-dar. We clock each other.
I'm not declaring for Hudson, but I just want all y'all to respectfully leave space for the possibility that he's the B in LGBTQ instead of defaulting him to straight because he maybe has or recently had a girlfriend. (I've had plenty of boyfriends and I'm still bisexual, bitch, that's what bisexual means!)
