Today is the first day you’ve been home in the last couple of weeks.
Your schedule is all over the place right now, promotions taking you from airport to airport, from presentation to presentation, but never giving you a break.
You look at me and wink. I blush. I’ve missed this, coming over to your house and having you here. Eating together. Seeing your face in real life, not through a screen. Hearing your voice in my ear as you whisper you’ve missed me.
You love your job. You’d never dream of doing something else. And I’d never dream of asking you to change. Because you might go away from me for months on end, but you always come back to me, to hum my favourite song in the mirror as we wash our teeth side by side. And that’s all I’ll ever need.
