'Bonheur' chain bracelet
A gold and jewelled chain bracelet formed with jewelled letters forming the inscription BON HEUR 1892, incorporating diamonds, sapphires, rubies and emeralds, between plaited links.
Provenance
Given to Queen Alexandra, when Princess of Wales, by Prince Albert Victor, Duke of Clarence, to mark his engagement to Princess Victoria Mary of Teck (Princess May or Mary, later Queen Mary). Alexandra in turn presented it to the Princess on the first anniversary of Albert Victor's death.
