Ok so nerd shit. I've been playing The Bibites and I'm happy to report that they have found a way to make the bibites naturally evolve predation. I've had this exact 3 islands simulation many times and this is the first time I'm seeing deliberate predatory behavior.
This simulation has been running for nearly 400 hours. Only two of the islands are occupied. One is sort of just a generic large bibite with some innovations on avoiding bibites. This one has developed pathways to its herding behavior that cause it to rapidly accelerate toward other bibites. The behavior is similar for plant food too, despite it not being mapped exactly the same. They seem to have adapted to being very small, having a low need for food, and just latching onto a food source for as long as possible, digesting slowly. This herding behavior causing them to catapult themselves toward bibites and this desire to latch onto things makes them like little leeches. Very few ever live to a large size, it seems, and larger individuals typically eat smaller ones when they get the chance. Most of them generally have behaviors that are better for obtaining plants, but a few are really successful as predators. Despite this, they aren't considered remarkably carnivorous in their genes. I'm gonna be honest, I have no idea what that gene does.
