Preacher: Ian Wooley, Senior Pastor
Scripture: Psalm 2 and biblical overview (topical sermon)
God is King; He was there at the beginning, thus He is the undisputed King. At Creation, God established patterns and rules for His Kingdom (Gen 2:16-17), and evoked the universal rule of obeying God.
God continues to bring salvation and deliverance through one man at a time. To Adam He promised that his offspring would crush Satan. He promised Abraham a people, a land, and a blessing (Genesis 15). He promised David that his offspring would rule forever. These men were shadows of Christ, the Son of Adam and the Son of God - God’s people were shown a prophecy of one man, the Messiah: He would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2) of a virgin birth (Isaiah 9). He would suffer (Isaiah 53), but God would prevail (Daniel 7) and He would make a new, forever covenant (Jeremiah 32-33).
God will ultimately triumph. Only King Jesus can deliver God’s promises of salvation and eternal life – are you a citizen of God’s Kingdom? Jesus is King, and all will bow before Him one day whether they choose to or not.
LORD Jesus, Thank You that You are King. Your Kingdom is eternal and from everlasting to everlasting - I am a moment, and You are forever. Oh that I may worship You as King all the days of my life! What joy, what privilege, what honor. Thank You King Jesus, Amen.
