28 Days of Productivity Bingo - Day 1
Read about something that you find interesting
So for this first day and challenge, I chose a matter that is always interesting to me: marine biology. I think the way marine fauna lives is amazing. It's like a different world within our own world. My research was specifically about the abyssal seas and the animals that live there. Some ocean locations can reach up to 10000 meters (32808,4 ft) deep, like the Mariana's Trench. Deep water is considered to be a distance of at least 2000 meters (6561,68 ft) from the surface. Due to the pressure of the water, few living beings survive these hostile environments. For humans to access what exists in these places, it is necessary to use ROVs (remotely operated veicules).
One of the animals that most caught my attention in my reading was a cephalopod (same class as octopuses) called bigfin squid, or in its scientific name, Magnapinna. It was first sighted in the Gulf of Perdido, an oil platform in Mexico, 2007. The scary image of her caught attention - at first glance, it really looks like an alien. As there has never been contact with one of them alive, little is known about this animal. One of its main features, however, is its immense tentacles. The animal can reach 8 meters in total. Later, other videos of her were made, and in these the squid didn't look that scary. It is believed that the youngest beings of the species swim more shallower depths, while the adults live there at the bottom of the sea. Curious, huh?
On the left we see a younger and more recent species of squid. On the right, the famous photo in which she was discovered. Yes, that's the full size of the animal - giant.

I just finished watching "Dead Poets Society". Two things influenced me to see this film. One was you guys, since Tumblr people is always talking about it. Another was an English class I had a couple of years ago in which a teacher introduced us to Walt Whitman and used this film to help us understand more about his work. As you know, I'm from Brazil, and here nobody really pays much attention in English classes. I, however, enjoyed specific that one. Something about W.W's work incited a feeling on me. I think it was because his poems reminded me a bit of a character I wrote for a book I never finished and that was just as idealistic, passionate and full of freedom as Whitman's persona. I wrote it right around the time I took that class. And that character reminded me of who I was when I wrote him. I used to loved what I did: writing. Creating. I loved it and did it without fear. I didn't mind "spending" a notebook with a text wondering if it would look bad; I tried. And if it got bad, I would write again. When did I start being afraid to do what I love because someone will think it's stupid? Worse: when did I stop writing because I'm going to judge myself and think I'm stupid?
This movie reminded me of all that. A little bit of who I am. I don't know if I could explain in words how incredible it was to have watched him; but those are my words. I will not stop doing what I do for fear of making mistakes. I don't want to wake up one day and find out that I've forgotten to live my life. So I'm going to give and end to my character story's. He deserves. So do I.
Thanks for this, Tumblr. And seize the day, y'all.
I'm really into color palettes, so I did the ones for my profile identify 🎨
