Right? A large piece of rebar through the back, into the chest cavity where most of your major life sustaining organs are located, is not necessarily a treatable injury, especially when they were in an abandoned barn in the middle of nowhere. It took Dean only seven minutes to die, an ambulance would not have gotten there in time. But it doesn’t matter anyway because that was not the story, the story was Dean dying on a hunt and Sam living the rest of his life for both of them because Dean asked him to till they could be reunited in Heaven.
Also, it was Jensen’s idea for Dean to die standing up, the original script had Dean dying on the ground, but Jensen added the forehead touch and all the touching, so they came up with the rebar idea.

Anyways long story short the hellers thought Jensen was "keeping quiet" about the finale (he wasn't but okay) because they thought that he shipped destiel and hated the finale and blah blah. They kept bringing up that "sexy silence" and honestly it got annoying. Along comes the panel day and they think Jensen is gonna give them the truth about destiel! Yay! All hail the heller king! But yeah that didn't turn out so well for them and now they're mad and saying that dean deserved to die on the rebar (after months of saying that he didn't)
So much for sexy silence amiright? :)
