You guys? I think I just came up with an ending to my fic!
A sneak peek at the next installment of The Continued Adventures of the Warrior and the Child ~shout out to the Kalluzeb chat for reinforcing my ego and supporting my creativity~
The plate and mug Zeb had been washing hit the bottom of the sink with a crash. Leaving the water running, Zeb turned and left the galley without a word to the others. Ezra watched him leave and then huffed, "What was that about I wonder."
Getting up from her seat slowly Hera went to turn off the faucet before answering, "It may have something to do with the fact that you just said you slept with his ex boyfriend."
Ezra turned to Kanan panicking, "But that's not what I meant! A nap! We took a...oh Kriff Zeb's going to kill me isn't he?"
Laughing Kanan stood up and joined Hera, "Relax, even if that's where his mind went initially he'll realize what you meant." He reached out to stroke Hera's rounded middle as he continued, "And if he doesn't he'll go freak out at Alex and Alex will explain it."
Stopping mid motion he gasped, "Hera!"
No sooner had he spoken Hera cried out clutching her stomach. Placing his other hand over hers Kanan asked, "Now will you let me take you to the medbay? You've been in labor for hours."
"What do you mean hours?" Ezra cried, "Why haven't you taken her to the medbay yet?"
Hera shook her head panting, "Not until my water," she was interrupted by an audible pop and gush of fluid.
Kanan couldn't hold back his smirk, "You were saying?"
"Jarrus I'm going to," the rest of Hera's sentence was lost in a groan as another contraction started.
"Marry me and live happily ever after?" Kanan supplied, "A fantastic idea Captain Syndulla."
Really guys? Ok but no seriously thank you for all the support. I Kriffing love you all! Ok, I'm off to Yavin IV, comm if you need me!
So what if I posted a super long chapter of The Continued Adventures Of The Warrior and The Child for May the Fourth? Haha just kidding...unless?
Cracked out 4k+ words in a new scene for my kalluzeb fic because insomnia is a bitch and I've lost control of my life. So question: do you want to see it now or should I just stick it where it goes when I get to that point?
Chapter 14 of The Continued Adventures of the Warrior and the Child is up! Can't wait to hear what you think!
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Hello everyone! Sorry again for the wait! Chapter 13 is here, another fairly short one but hopefully it lives up to you expectations. I'm so glad I was able to get this out for Rebels Remembered! Huge thanks as always to everyone who reads and leaves kudos/comments. It means a ton. And a special shout out to my pals in the Kalluzeb fandom for keeping stoked to write. I'm still in love with this story and these characters and I hope that's evident in the writing. Feel free to chat with me in the comments or here on Tumblr, thanks for reading!
I think it took a while for Hera to really trust Alex, but with both being insomniacs they began to become friends and began to trust him. Heck she trust him to watch her baby.
I'm actually working on a scene dealing with this. It'll be a little ways away in my fic. So far I kinda picture it like this:
Alexsandr stepped out of the dark hall blinking in the bright light of the galley. His captain sat at the table staring off into the middle distance. This was far from the first time their paths had crossed in the middle of the night. Even before she'd gotten pregnant Hera had been something of an insomniac and Alex often found himself unable to sleep due to a mix of pain and being unable to shut his mind off. Their late night bonding sessions had become a regular thing, so Alexsandr wasn't surprised to find her up even at this late hour.
A mug of tea sat on the table in front of Hera as she sat gently running a hand over her very pregnant belly. He coughed softly announcing his presence so as not to startle her. She shook her head slightly before looking over to where he stood and smiled, "We really do have to stop meeting like this."
He grinned at her, "Very right, after all what would our respective partners say?"
Hera laughed, "Kanan would tell us both we needed to relax and meditate if we really wanted to sleep," she took in his stance that had him favoring his right leg, "And Zeb would be fussing over you for not waking him up when you were in pain."
Alexsandr rolled his eyes and waved off the last of her comment even as he limped over to the table and slid into the seat next to her, "It's really not all that bad," but he bit back a grimace as he spoke.
She pursed her lips and looked like she might disagree for a moment but didn't say anything. They sat in amicable silence for a few minutes that was suddenly broken by Hera suddenly hissing in pain and curling her hand over her middle. Alex immediately moved closer. "False contractions or is our youngest crew member over active tonight?"
Hera let out a breath slowly, "It's one thing for this baby to be force sensitive, but practicing lightsaber stances in the womb is a bit much."
Alexsandr nodded in agreement and started to lay a hand on her stomach but stopped short asking, "With your permission?" After a nod from Hera he laid a hand against her belly. Using a voice reserved for the greenest of academy cadets he spoke, "Now listen here young man," he paused when he felt a jab against his hand and looked up to see Hera wincing, "Excuse me? I won't stand for this sass," another, softer jab, "No, absolutely not. Favorite nephew of mine or not. I'm sorry but this obstinance will not be allowed to continue. So what do you say? Will you go to sleep and give you misha a break?" Another soft jab met Alexsandr's palm as he spoke again, this time in a much softer voice, "Very well. Goodnight little padawan. Uncle Alex loves you."
Leaning back he looked up to find Hera had drifted off in her seat. He smiled and debated waking her up but decided against it. He sat for a while longer and when he'd decide to go back to bed he woke Zeb to carry her back to bed.
*Misha is Ryl for mother*
How's that? I'll flesh it out when it's connected to the longer fic. Also if you or anyone else want me to start a tag list for my ao3 updates let me know!
