Look, I’m not being asked to interject anything so both parties can tell me to mind my business and I will respect that for sure however I am friends with both parties and I feel it’s necessary to say something about this entire thing about people calling themselves myth or tagging themselves in the myth rp tag on this blue hellsite.
Ty, you are totally valid to have the view you have. I get that it IS frustrating to see people blatantly ignore even the most basic mythologies of muses and go for extremely wrong information found through modern media like marvel or whatever and then say that is the truth behind the myth when it most certainly is NOT. However what you wrote was literally one line and a handful of tags and to say anyone took stuff out of context is difficult to argue because there was little context to be had in the first place.
HOWEVER, Mir, while you are also valid in your view I would say knowing that there was little context it might have been better worded to reply asking for said context and explanation with not so much of the tone taken, BUT…. I get why you took the tone and were quick to feel it necessary to reply as you did. You’re right to be upset because even IF someone does the frustrating thing of mistaking marvel for myth or whatever, there is still no excuse for being mean about it no matter how frustrated you feel because this only discourages people from trying to learn and realize what they are doing is misplaced research of a sort.
TL;DR yall are both valid and right in your own ways however tone and clarity mean EVERYTHING. I want so badly for everyone, not just you guys, to understand that sometimes we gotta give as much as we can when explaining our frustrations but we also gotta understand not everyone can or will or want to and there is usually another side to something like this that is unseen/not known because of the lack of context.
You can’t fault either side for getting to the point they have.
You can, however, call out jackasses that decide to send anon hate to either side and REMEMBER: when you have a LARGE base of followers there is more power to your words than you may think you have. It sucks to have to mind it but it IS true so always be mindful of that power and how you express yourself when arguing with anyone so that the few folks that take things to a bad level don’t take it out in a gross way on the other party. That only serves to invalidate a lot of what is said, imo, because it feels like you are backed by a gross set of folks and no one wants to be associated with that when I know BOTH of you are good people no matter what this argument presents of either side of this particular issue.
And in the end here is what is really important regarding the actual matter: People are going to tag themselves what they are going to tag themselves. We can not stop it and while you can vent and be frustrated about it and have your own selective ways in choosing who to write with you can not force anyone to NOT use a public tagging system on a public site. Be selective! And you don’t even have to help people who seem to lack understanding of a myth to the degree you want because that’s your prerogative! But if you tag your frustrating IN the actual tags used it IS policing and if you police the policer for policing you’re still… policing. You dig?
