BIG HUGE LABS!

   A couple of years ago I learned about Big Huge Labs.   This web site is awesome.  I can’t begin to even tell you half of the products you and your students can create from this site.  The tools include

Badge Maker - make an ID card, press pass, or name tag

Motivator - make motivational posters

Pop Art Poster - create a 9 panel false color poster from an image

Magazine Cover - create your own cover with headlines for the magazine (see example below)

Movie Poster - choose a photo, title and credits

Hockneyizer - create a unique photo collage

Calendar - create monthly calendars from photos

Trading Card - use photos and add your own text and symbols

Captioner - add your own comic book style captions to an image

Billboard - add a photo and a message to a billboard

and more! creating! I personally love playing with the magazine cover.  I was thinking students could use it in a variety of projects .  For instance, I made one about animals,  Wouldn’t this be a great idea for students to find facts to create their magazine cover?  Another great idea is for students to create trading cards on book characters.   The movie poster is also a great idea to use for book reports.  I know I see a lot of motivational posters in classrooms.  Well, if you want to create one, this is the site to visit.  Be sure to set aside some time before you click to visit this site.  You will be drawn to it and spend hours there.    http://bighugelabs.com/

I've been like obsessed with this website recently.  Totally my style for a super lean text editor that can chill in your browser but that retains some awesome style.  It's sweet, you folk will appreciate.

7th grade student gallery of @BigHugeLabs Medieval Movie Posters #artsed #edtech #web20 #history

Since 7th grade BWMS art students are preparing their costumes for our Medieval themed newspaper fashion show, they should know a little something about Medieval artwork.

 To help bridge the connection between art history, social studies and costume design, students got to huge one of the various photo editing tools at Big Huge labs: Movie Poster maker

The site has great resources for teachers, such as creating accounts for your students so they don't need an email.

If students have access to Facebook, they can also import their pictures from there and create more works of art with the other Big Huge Lab sites.

Check out some of the other works of art that my students made below as they had to imagine themselves as a Medieval movie producer and incorporate a piece of art to attract people to see it.
