aahhh thx @thoughtsareloading for your response to the skz a/b/o question! you inspired me to do my own lil post talking about their dynamics and scent.

i can see all of the members as any of the dynamics, but obviously i'll always lean towards one of the three for all of them.

omegas

chan - your classic responsible pack omega. helps guide each of the members through their presentations, frets over all of the rest of the skz pack, is in charge of the pack nest and honestly prefers it that way because in his opinion everyone else are slobs. gets really bad anxiety during his heats and will literally start bawling if anyone leaves the nest out of pure panic at the thought of them exiting the safety of it, and does his hardest to cling to them and pull them back in. needless to say, everyone tries to make snack and water runs while he's asleep lol. aside from that, he's near obsessive about the quality of the nest during and outside his heats (most likely stemming from the fact that he views it as the "safest place") and works constantly to adjust it and tidy it even when he's deep into the thick his heat. [scent: jasmine tea and something clear. crisp. like rain, or freshwater from a mountain spring. there's a hint of deeper floral sweetness, but for the most part he just has a more mild, calming, "sleepy" scent.]

minho - probably the chillest of the omegas. rather than overtly possessive or protective (like hyunjin and chan respectively), he tends to prefer more subtle reassurances. cooking with chan, feeding the dongsaengs together, helping them during practice by anticipating their thirst and holding the water bottle up to them. he likes to anticipate their needs, likes knowing what they need before even they do. during heat, he's very active—and not in the sexual sense, lmao. well, probably the sexual sense too but like. . . moreso, he's caring for everyone. he seems like the type of omega who'd view the entire dorm as his nest, not just the physical nest, so he has no problem being up and about during his heat. he's cooking and shoving food down everyone's throats, he's tidying everyone's rooms, he's doing the laundry—Chan-Hyung™ behavior, basically. but unlike chan, minho's doing it with a specific purpose outside of just nesting instincts. he's doing it to spread his scent everywhere. he wants it to cling to every surface, every nook and cranny of their dorms so thickly that it takes all the way up until he's nearing his next heat for it to disappear completely. [scent: i think it'd be funny if his scent was like the complete opposite of his resting face, lol. something sweet and spice-filled, like a pumpkin tart or some other sort of pumpkin spice concoction.]

hyunjin - very possessive, especially in or around his heats. also very emotional in the beginning, but not in the "stereotypical omega" way. everyone actually thought he was going to present as an alpha because of the particular brand of emotional he was exhibiting—aggressive, argumentative, snippy. he has this horrible tendency of aggression towards other omegas, one that's actually uncommon (most omegas find comfort in one another) and while we see this most during his heat it's very much an all-year, 24/7 thing. the only exceptions are chan and minho. they're pack, and his possessiveness always wins out in the end. [scent: yeah, something very classically omega. rosewater or just pure roses, and something richer and more chocolate-y.]

betas

changbin - while i love me some omega changbin (i like it when people mix it up, what can i say ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) and understand why alpha changbin is popular, i agree that beta suits him perfectly. he's, like, the pack beta. steady, reliable, supportive. in a lot of the a/b/o au WIPs that i'm developing, betas are able to manipulate their scents (in fact, they're the dynamic with the most sensitivity to scent due to this need to be able to sense and navigate the intricacies of it) and take on certain traits of the other two secondary genders (i.e, they can slick up or develop a knot in reaction to heat/rut pheromones), so they're the perfect backup. they can give what's needed, take what's needed, and it's all in the name of pack harmony and balance. changbin strikes me as a very emotionally and socially intelligent person, especially when it comes to the dynamics within skz. i think that he would be the official pack beta and take that role very seriously. [scent: bergamot and something earthy like what @thoughtsareloading mentioned. petrichor. mayybe more woodsy, like oak.]

felix - oh everyone and their mother thought that he'd present as an omega and if we were all living in an a/b/o au where this was all actual reality, i'd be willing to bet irl money on this. despite their important roles in packs, betas are still dramatically overlooked and stereotyped as plain or boring, etc. so when someone like felix walks in, of course they assume that someone who looks like him, someone you immediately notice, couldn't possibly be a beta. but he is, and i imagine he's genuinely so proud to be able to act as some much-needed positive beta representation. i would say out of all three of the skz pack's betas, he's actually the least sensitive to scent, but considering the fact that he's a beta that's not saying much. saying that there's a beta who's "least" sensitive to scent is sorta like saying that there's a honeybee who's slightly less good at detecting pollen, lol. sure, it may be worse when stacked against other honeybees, but when you compare it to a human (re: omegas and alphas), who can only see pollen, then that bee's still fucking phenomenal at detecting pollen. [scent: lavender and the sea, probably with an added citrusy undertone to it.]

seungmin - oh he's always given me beta vibes. like, from the first time i considered a skz a/b/o au. i can also see him as an omega, or maybe a soft-spoken alpha, but idk i feel like beta just fits him. he comes off as calm and unobtrusive, and his scent is the most neutral of the pack, which makes it especially easy to manipulate. he probably keeps all of the members company throughout their pre/post heats and ruts because of all of this. during those type of intense times, it's best to have something neutral. something that won't trigger an alpha or omega's instincts too much unless needed. i think he's also one of the only members that the public guesses correctly. like, they'll always assume chan's an alpha, felix is an omega, etc, but interviewers, new stays, etc., almost always assume that seungmin's a beta. [scent: something very mild, but still faintly sweet. like watermelon, cantaloupe, or honeydew.]

alphas

jisung - tbh, i just like me some alpha jisung. it's fun, lol. i like to imagine that he and hyunjin showed a lot of the same symptoms, only unlike hyunjin, jisung did wind up presenting as an alpha. he breaks, like, all the alpha stereotypes though lmao. after his initial presentation he isn't particularly possessive, even during rut. for pete's sake, even the betas are more possessive than him. he's protective, but by god does it rarely come out. he's content to let the others take the lead. i think making him the pack alpha would be interesting from a purely narrative standpoint (rather than personality or anything), since i've actually never seen that in a fic. i also think it'd be funny if he and hyunjin had their beef back then (with the dynamics twist, obvi) only for jisung to be one of the members who hyunjin's most possessive of now. like, the others love to tease them about it. [scent: vanilla and musk with some type of woody undertone.]

jeongin - i prefer omega/beta jeongin, but in a mixed pack setting i do think that baby alpha jeongin has his charms. i think he'd be possessive in the beginning, but he's more quietly possessive than outright get-in-your-face possessive like hyunjin, and after his initial presentation period it mostly rears up around his rut. and it's not even possessive possessive actually, more like unconsciously clingy. i also think that he has a more sensitive nose than the general alpha, so he tends to gravitate more towards the betas. oh, and he tries to posture at jisung in the beginning (purely on instinct) but he's not aggressive, and all jisung does is laugh cause like. iyennie-ah is growling. at him. and then covering his beet-red face to hide his embarrassment. lol. lolol. lmao. lmfao, even. it's adorable, because everything he does is adorable. [scent: something sharp. sharp, or just strong. mint. eucalyptus. cinnamon.]
