Big Mac feat. Hubert Sumlin - “Rough Dried Woman” Jewel Spotlights the Blues, Volume 1 Song released in 1967. Compilation released in 1994.
60s blues from Arkansan Big Mac or Big Mack. Sung over an instrumental track that was provided by Hubert Sumlin. This song charted nationally and was a southern blues hit. Its unique hallmark is Mac’s unbridled yell and straining vocals. Brilliant and uncommon in its time.
Jewel Spotlights the Blues, Volume 1 is a compilation of some of the biggest blues hits from the Jewel Records catalog, a Louisiana record label that focused on blues, soul, and gospel.
Apparently ‘Big Mack’ from the Wilson Atomatoys factory is named after "Big Mack" Pryor, who met the staff at Bethesda Studios while battling relapsed leukaemia at the NIH in Bethesda. He died Dec 27, 2015, aged 21.
Interestingly Big Macintosh or ‘Big Mac’ is the name of a My Little Pony character. This could be coincidental but Big Mack is found in a factory that used to make little horses...
