yet another g/t thought of the day
me and a friend were talking about the idea of a grumpy scientist who'd shrunk himself during his experiments, and in an effort to get back to normal size built a human-sized robot lab assistant to help him with his experiments, as well as just being his servant, though over time the two grow closer and closer, so i wrote a lil story between the two

as for the actual short story:
(S is the scientist and R is his robot caretaker)
S is working on a lil doodad while R is holding him up so he can reach the metal plates with his tools. S has been at this for about an hour now so he's quite exhausted at this point but he's almost done! he eagerly screws in the last bolt, happy to finish. S: "Ah! Finally done! Thanks for the help, R!" R: [No problem, Sir. What do you want to do now?] S: "Hm… I could use a break after all that work." R: [Understood.] R moves away from the machine and sits down, much to the confusion of S, as S sits down while being transported. S suddenly feels R's robotic, yet soft hand gently petting him, something he's never done before. S jolts in surprise. S: "H-hey! What're you doing this for?!" R: [From what I've studied, mammals, such as cats and dogs, much enjoy being petted while they're relaxing. Do you not find this enjoyable?] S: "I… didn't say that…"
S grumbles to himself while R continues petting him for a while. He doesn't want to admit it, but it does feel quite nice.
R learns more and more about his creator every day.
