Pokeverse Loki stuff
Loki's story and pokemon:
From what anyone can gather, Loki used to be a magnificent trainer. He comes from a family of prestigious trainers-- gym leaders, league champions. His father was league champion for many years before he stepped down, and his mother was one of the elite four. He was raised with pokemon, and given one as soon as he was able to command a battle. He took to it like a fish to water-- strategy and communication with his pokemon were his to command, but there was something that prevented him from connecting with his partners. His older brother always beat him, no matter how hard he and his pokemon trained, and it drove him nearly mad with jealousy. After his older brother was accepted as a gym leader, Loki took up his pokemon and left home to journey with them, to find why he couldn't be as strong as the rest of his family, and knowing full well that, eventually, he would have to face his brother in battle and win in order to advance in the league.
Loki, seeking his own fortune, traveled to a different region to gather the badges there and advance to the league. His journey took him many fantastic places, and every gym battle he competed in, he won, advancing to the league where he blew through the seeded matches to fight the elite four and champion of that region, all battles he won. With the championship title, he felt finally he had some something that his brother could not. He was a champion like his father before him, although he did not want to stay in that region to defend his title. Seeking to prove to his family that he had done better than his brother for once, he turned to head for home.
On the way there, ran afoul of a group of people who bypassed his pokemon completely and attacked him with their own. When he awoke, his pokemon were gone, stolen, and he was all alone in the forest. Unsure of where to turn, he doubled back to his brother's gym. In spite of their continued rivalry, Thor was furious that anyone would steal another trainer's pokemon and went on the warparth to find them, but ultimately turned up nothing. Loki stayed with him for a while, watching trainers come and go-- some winning, most losing against his brother, and trying to learn how to heal from the devastating loss of his lifelong partners. He had never grown as close to his pokemon as Thor was to his, but the loss still hurt him deeply. Without pokemon, he had no power, and without power, he was nothing. He was defenseless. He was worthless, and he beat himself up over it constantly.
Eventually, he grew cold and indifferent towards pokemon. They had hurt him in the past and allowing them close would only allow more heartbreak. He watched Thor's matches with chilly impassiveness and on more than one occasion lashed out at trainers who sought his brother for a match. Seeking no further profit from lingering there, he started out on his own to find somewhere he could maybe find purpose to his suddenly very purposeless life. Along the way, he found Hylli, and his journey began anew...
Loki's previous team:
Female Zangoose, Female Weavile, Male Gogoat, Male Manectric, Male Salamence, Female Pyroar
Zangoose- Maekir
Loki met her shortly after he started his journey and after healing her from severe poisoning from a Seviper, he helped her defeat that same pokemon, and she stuck with him.
Weavile- Herlieth
Loki met her as a Sneasel and caught her after bettling her. She became close companions with him and he helped her evolve after she lost a particularly important battle.
Gogoat- Felagi
He was given to Loki as his starter as a Skiddo, and the two of them had been through everything together. He evolved when Loki was young, and while they could never beat Thor together at battles, they could always beat him at races. They were close, but there was always a sense of distance between them, like they intentionally didn't become the friends they could be.
Manectric- Vethr
Loki met Vethr as an Electrike who was abandoned by his trainer. He brought the poor thing to the pokemon center to have him healed, and when he was nursed back to health, he forced himself into one of Loki's dormant pokeballs. He evolved into a Manectric when his power as an Electrike was getting him nowhere in the middle of a battle.
Salamence- Ormstunga
Met as a Bagon, he caught the poor thing while it was leaping off a cliff to try to fly. He noticed her injuries, healed her, and set her on her way. After watching her continue to try to become stronger to evolve, he took pity on her and offered her aid by joining with him. She was reluctant at first, but agreed, and two days later, she evolved into a Shelgon in battle. She remained that way for a while until his last badge battle where she, in a pinch, saw how badly he needed to win and evolved into a Salamence, clenching the victory for him.
Pyroar- Hithi
Met as a Litleo with a penchant for trouble, Loki battled her and captured her to keep the people from doing something worse to her. She evolved into a Pyroar after a pair of Timburrs made her angry enough to do so. They regretted that decision later.
Loki's new team:
Hylli: Female Shiny Snivy
Loki found Hylli at first injured and alone in the forest. With no pokemon for himself, he nursed her back to health with the intention of releasing her. She refused to leave his side once she was well, and he begrudgingly accepted her company as the start of his new team
Althjof: Male Zoura
Althjof followed Loki for a long time, and he and Hylli had no idea why things would go missing so often. Eventually, he caught the little thief in the act, he caught him with a pokeball by surprise and added him to the party. His things still occasionally go missing.
Myrkva: Female Houndour
Myrkva was a member of a pack of Houndour that Loki ran afoul of one night. They attacked him, being incredibly territorial and wary of humans, and he fought her with Althjof while Hylli stayed off to the side, scared of her searing flames. After a tough battle, Althjof came out victorious and Loki caught Myrkva and her pack fled, having lost their leader. Myrkva did not take kindly to Loki at first, but after an instance in which he put himself in harm's way to save her, she realized that he cared about her enough to hurt himself, and so she began listening to him.
Duna: Female Blitzle
Duna kind of made her way onto Loki's team by accident. Stopping at a pokemon center along the road, she was injured and recovering in their ICU, and Loki gave her a berry out of pity. When she became better the next morning, she followed him out of the center and down the road a ways until he noticed her. He tried to shoo her away, but she wouldn't leave him, happily trotting along behind him. He let her follow him for a few days, and after a while, he finally offered to have her join him. She did so very happily. He is kind of reluctant to have her. He's not fond electric types.
Vetr: Male Amaura
Loki was given Vetr as a gift from a scientist he helped. They needed someone to charge his machine, and Loki offered his all-too-enthusiastic Blitzle for the job. Duna was happy to help and eagerly charged the machine and more, allowing the scientist to revive Vetr from the fossil he was encased in. Loki stuck around for Vetr's first few days of life to make sure he was resurrected properly, and when he set out to continue traveling, the scientist offered for him to take Vetr with him to see the world. Loki accepted the quiet and serious Amaura and added him to the party.
Fara: Female Misdreavus
Fara was instantly attracted to Althjof's penchant for mischief and followed Loki and his team for several weeks before Loki was able to corner and battle her with the same Zoura she coveted. Althjof hates her. Fara loves him. She steals the things he steals just to give them back.
Loki presently made his way to the Unova region, where he begins a new adventure with a new team...
