idk how to describe this well but since I read a lot of fanfiction about nonblack characters, I don’t even know how to write myself? if that makes sense. I finally have a black character that I’m obsessed with enough to write about and I’m at a stand still really. since I don’t like being called chocolate or whatever, but since when black characters are mentioned in fics I read, they often get described like that. so my brain defaults to it? and I hate it 😭I read posts about writing black skin and it’s still doesn’t click. I’m pretty sure it’ll help if I read more black literature LIKE I’VE BEEN MEANING TOO. idk, this has just been bothering me for a while. and frustrating since I thought I was done unlearning internalized racism.
