ik in the past i said the more kames showed their foreheads/cut their hair the worse their characters became but ykw further proves that notion??

FUCKING LUCY. the more she pins her hair back and the fewer highlights she has the more flanderized she becomes. she lost her smokey eye, she lost her EDGE. and don't get me wrong i'm all for maturing and character development but falling for james was not the way to go with that. there wasn't enough time to develop those feelings, the start of their relationship in big time dreams felt so undeserved and unwarranted. you're telling me lucy loved james SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much that she left in the middle of her tour to join an awards show just to see james? after basically 2 seasons of turning him down?? BULLSHIT. i mean sure they had their cute little moment where they were about to kiss in big time pranks 2 but what was there other than that? at most it felt like a spur of the moment kind of deal. and the whole motorcycle fiasco in big time rides? fuckin forget abt it. lucy was rightfully upset at james for stringing along a stupidly elaborate lie and didn't want to date someone she couldn't trust. james fumbled and that should've been the end of it. he did not and still does not deserve her.

We all know the post season 2 characterizations are just a case of flanderization going off the rails but it would interesting to interpret the change in character as a result of just… the guys getting too famous too young/fast and not noticing as it snowballs? The tour bus episode where Kendall is inexplicably upset when reading hate comments (when that exactly the sort of thing season 1 Kendall would make a speech about and call it LA changing them) and James fully blowing him off to complain about Logan comes to mind. Then you get stuff like Carlos getting sillier and more stupid which could be from not being expected to really grow up the way celebrities are/the way they’re tolerated for being irresponsible or Logan becoming increasingly impulsive as the show goes on. Idk, just an idea and a heavy dose of copium

Honestly, I've never thought abt it like that before, but it just makes sm sense when you put everything together. Especially the thing abt Kendall freaking out over hate comments in Big Time Tour Bus. If anyone was to react the way he did, I would've thought it'd be James. Then Kendall would be the one telling him not to engage and just ignore the haters.

And if anyone was to be impulsive and irresponsible, I'd think it'd be Carlos. Then Logan would be the one to steer him in the right direction and be the voice of reason, as he usually is (at least when it's just them). Whether he'd listen to Logan or not is pretty much a coin toss depending on the severity of the situation.

But yeah, a lot to think about. I guess it (unfortunately) makes a lot of sense that they turned out the way they did given the fact that they started their career in their mid-teens. Sucks that they didn't really stay all that true to their pact, though. But ig no one ever really stays the same.

Sorry for badgering you about this but I forgot to mention that in the same tour bus episode it was CARLOS who was being the voice of reason (re:Kendall freaking out) for once which is probably just bc Carlos Penavega was directing and probably had an input on some things but looking at it in-universe is kind of insane? Go you funky boy band switch up your roles in the dynamic go go go

Hiya! Yeah, I remember that. Looking at Carlos' reaction at face value, I always found it to be a tad strange. Not that him being the voice of reason was the strangest exhibition of characterization because there are plenty of other "out of character" moments that are of more concern, but I guess Carlos can always surprise you. I'd rather he be strangely adult about things than strangely immature and nonsensical because being immature became his one and only character trait down the road that was often used in cases of comic relief. I know there's more to him than that, there's gotta be.

Interesting tidbit about Carlos Penavega directing Big Time Tour Bus, though! I had no idea. Also, you're good. Send as many asks as you'd like, I'm all for discussing things like this.
