This is where the lava was running into the sea when we hiked down to the flows. It wasn't quite the spectacle that I had hoped for but still very cool to see the molten lava in real life. We stopped in a City of Refuge, aka Pu'uhonua o Honaunau, just south of Kona, on our way down to Volcanos National Park. Definitely worth a stop. I recommend checking this place out 1st thing in the morning while the sun is shining. The vog (volcanic ash in the air) tends to block the sun as the day heats up. I'm working on the new lava pictures at the moment.
