“babe ╼ just press this button to go, that button to throw, and that button to pause the game. it’s not that hard,” raja explained, quiet in a way that meant he was still riding out his high and was too out of it to speak louder than a murmur. “then, when you get the blue shell you can throw it at him and get in front of him.” not hardly; deysi was somewhere between seventh and eighth place, falling behind the computers either because she didn’t care enough to play to be a good opponent, or she still didn’t understand the controls. so, he patiently was explaining them again, gesturing towards where the game was paused on the screen. “are you ready now? maybe you can beat uriah when he gets home.”
for once, deysi had been trying to be supportive of her boyfriends’ need to play video game and had tried to learn what raja claimed was one of the easiest games they had, but was losing miserably. “what if i don’t get a blue shell?” she had understood that much of the game ╼ everything was randomized even when it was on the easiest level. “can i just learn another game? like the smashing one that you two play?” she asked just as she heard the door open, both of them looking over the back of the couch. “hey, babe!” deysi called before leaning her head back onto raja’s leg to look up at him. “or you two can play and i’ll just watch.”
