       “ ╼ i need to tell you something, and before you ask; you’re not going to like it.” despite the fact that she knew he wasn’t really going to like the idea, she couldn’t help the excitement coursing through her, almost bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet with so happy she was. “we’re going on vacation. the destination is a surprise so that you can’t automatically say no, i already cleared your schedule. yes, i did it without your permission, no i have no regrets, and everything is already paid for so all you have to do is pack your suitcase for a week.”  it really had been against her better judgment to even attempt a vacation, but he’d been stressed out, she’d been mean as a snake, and both of them hadn’t really been home lately so when she’d seen a deal for a timeshare she’d jumped on the chance. “the tickets are non-refundable, please don’t be mad at me. i just wanted us to be able to relax together without any distractions. it’s a private place, no one will bother us  ╼ please don’t be mad...?”

       “  ╼ you poor, sweet child. didn’t anyone tell you that nothing good happens in the dark?” she would almost feel sorry for them, if that was an emotion that could distinguish other than the irritation of having her fun disturbed. in hindsight, the alley behind the seedy bar she’d been in probably hadn’t been one of her better choices, but it was too little too late now. they’d seen her, the blood still coated her lips and chin, and now they had to be taken care of too. “there’s no point running from me. i can hear your heartbeat  ╼ i can smell your fear. come here little one; let’s just get this over with, hm? i’ll make it quick.”

       “why are you actin’ like this? you only act up like this when you want something,” cyrus started, staring down his lover with an eyebrow raised, more amused than anything else by their behavior. “so are you gonna come out and tell me what you want, or do you want daddy to have to guess?” he knew very well that they only got like that when he hadn’t been paying them attention and left them to their own devices, but it never failed to amuse him to see how long they would last. “is it time for you to go to sleep? you always get mighty grumpy when you’re tired.”

“this really isn’t necessary,” raja grumbled as he stood in the living room of his and enzo’s shared apartment, eyes narrowed at the male snooping around through his stuff, no doubt looking for more things to throw away. “and i’m not going to be gone long enough for you to be trying to completely change my room with...whatever this is.” raja reached out and nudged the bag still near the kitchen floor with his foot, turning to the entrance when he heard the sound of the key in the lock and the door opening. “hey enzo,” he greeted before looking back into his room, distracted by what his brother was doing. 

“hi enzo!” another voice called from the room, the sound of feet hitting the door and moving towards the living room prompting raja to roll his eyes before amir was popping into the living room, moving to stand next to his brother. “i’m amir! this doofus’ brother. i came to pay his rent while he’s off getting better. how did you stand the smell of his room all this time?” amir asked, ducking the halfhearted swipe raja took at him.

       “  ╼ why are you upset? i still have to play the part, you know. it’s good for my dad’s business.” the petite girl released a dramatic sigh, taking another sip of the champagne that none of them were truly supposed to be having, lazily watching as her parents mingled around with the family of the boy she’d just been hanging all over. “’sides, what’s the big deal? it’s not like there aren’t plenty of other people here for you to occupy yourself with while i’m busy.”

       walking back into his apartment after days of being in the hospital felt odd, but even more so because he wouldn’t be staying. his brother had told him to think of it as an overnight sleepover in camp, but the look on their parents faces left no room for him to imagine it being something as fun. whoever had called his parents, most likely kadir, had basically wasted their time. with the stunt he’d pulled, they’d basically told him that he was dead to them and usually that wouldn’t have bothered him but now he didn’t even have his best friend to fall back on which was no one’s fault but his own. “enzo.” raja forewent a greeting, staring at the other male from the door frame. “i’m leaving for a little while. you should probably find another roommate.” one that wasn’t a fuck up his mind supplied helpfully before he spoke again, “so that you won’t have to pay rent by yourself.”

       “ ╼ we have a really ugly ship name, did you know that?” lulu asked, flicking her gaze up from her phone where she’d been scrolling down her twitter feed for at least an hour. “why are our names so hard to mash together? maybe we should come up with ones ourselves, since our fans don’t seem very creative.” honestly since t was all fake she didn’t even know why she cared enough to be actively thinking about it this hard, but regardless the drummer was pressed. “we could make a new ship name and put it under a caption on insta. that’ll make ‘em happy.”

       “i know i’m a little drunk right now, but i really missed you and i’m lonely.” remy pouted through the screen, eyes narrowed against the bright light in the otherwise dark room. “will you fall asleep with me?” she wasn’t, or hadn’t, really been one to fall so hard for someone but they were different. so different that she wanted to ignore the fact that they were so far away but it wasn’t getting harder and harder with every sleepless night in a bed that hadn’t used to be too big for just her. “or talk to me until i fall asleep? i just really wanted to hear your voice.”
