The Sverd i fjell (aka, ‘Swords in Rock’) monument by sculptor Fritz Røed commemorates the 872 CE Battle of Hafrsfjord, by which King Harald Fairhair gathered all of Norway under one crown. The three bronze swords stand 33ft tall and are planted into solid rock of a small hill next to the fjord. The largest sword represents the victorious Harald, and the two smaller swords represent the defeated petty kings. #100daysofbadassery #whataboutthepettyqueenstho #bigoldswords #vikingsftw
