The Sverd i fjell (aka, ‘Swords in Rock’) monument by sculptor Fritz Røed commemorates the 872 CE Battle of Hafrsfjord, by which King Harald Fairhair gathered all of Norway under one crown. The three bronze swords stand 33ft tall and are planted into solid rock of a small hill next to the fjord. The largest sword represents the victorious Harald, and the two smaller swords represent the defeated petty kings. #100daysofbadassery #whataboutthepettyqueenstho #bigoldswords #vikingsftw
Bindrune for a strong, happy, and protected home etched in shining copper. This bindrune takes its structure from Othala, the rune of the home, the tribal enclosure, the protected sanctum. Within this are woven Wunjo (joy and well-being), Gebbo (gifts, reciprocity, divine blessing), and Fehu (wealth, fertility, creative fire). Outward-pointing Algiz runes make a palisade of protection, and Uruz runes ground its base in the strength and stability of the earth. Central rings in the Icelandic radial runic style concentrate and radiate the gathered power from central hearth outward.
