Supertiendas

A finales de los 70, la compañía introdujo un nuevo modelo de tienda: las supertiendas Circuit City (el nombre cambió de Wards a Circuit City en 1981). Estas supertiendas tenían como recibidor un espacio donde se mostraba parte de la mercadería. Detrás de este espacio había un almacén donde la gente podía observar y escoger productos. Las cajas no estaban ubicadas en un lugar centralizado, sino que estaban localizadas a lo largo del almacén y eran atendidas por vendedores que ganaban comisión por venta. El modelo se ajustaba a las necesidades de ese tiempo, en que los compradores no estaban muy informados sobre los aparatos que estaba comprando y necesitaban ayuda. En los 80, la aparición de nuevos aparatos como VHS, CD players y hornos microondas hicieron que las ventas aumentasen exponencialmente.
