Billlford is such a fantastic inversion of the classic ‘asexual alien’ trope.

In this scenario, it is Ford, the human, who is heavily implied to be on the aro-ace spectrum, and it is Bill, the otherworldly entity, who is written as the ‘super-needy ex’ who is still down bad, throthing at the eye-mouth, thirsting after a random geriatric nerd guy, obsessing over his hands and his mind. This horny freak with no real conception of gender or sexuality but with a strong penchant for cocktails and chains…

It is likely that Ford spent his formative years feeling constricted and inconvenienced by his physicality, which would explain his continued yearning for divine knowledge and his (intellectual and emotional) pursuit of supernatural creatures and experiences throughout his adulthood. The Other finds solace in the Other, but that is a whole other (ha) can of worms…

On the contrary, Bill has remained incorporeal for the majority of his existence and now desperately wishes to obtain a real, tangible, physical form. Bill wants to experience all the delights of physicality: pleasure, pain, partying, and companionship…The things that he cannot do in the Mindscape. For escapism, sensualism…it does not matter. Bill wants to be physical. To get physical (with Ford), so to speak.

Bill and Ford are diametrically opposed creatures and yet they function as a perfect compliment to each other as they are exactly what the other is seeking. A human who adores the supernatural and an omniscient being who craves the mundane.

i think my favorite thing about "Mr. Perfectly Fine" by Taylor swift in relation to KMKY billford is the fact that you can project it from either POV onto the other, because it reflects both of their warped views of eachother.

"So dignified in your well pressed suit, so strategized all the eyes on you"

like that could be from Bill's POV about ford. the eyes are self-explanatory, the fact that ford's dignity and self-image are some of the most important things he holds about himself.

And then it could be from Fords perspective, Bill's image of being dignified and all knowing, along with the fact that everybody is counting on him to harbor this Armagedón, all the pressure on him.

"Oh he's so smug mister always wins, so far above me in every sense, so far above feeling anything"

Again. From Bills perspective, it could seem like this. Feeling like Ford is toying with him, and from the cabin days where he romanticized it to when he hated it, Ford's smugness and moral high ground were always something they struggled with. Also, Ford always trying to hide his emotions, which again, went from something that drew them together to something that ripped them apart post betrayal.

From Ford's perspective, it could be anything from bill's seemingly self-serving victory during weirdmaggedon to his arrogant mask of a personality in general. And above feeling ANYTHING? Thats to a T what Ford was accusing Bill of during their messy bhad bhabbie style public breakup at the bibliosphere.

But that was when I got to know Mr. "Change of heart" Mr. "Leaves me all alone," I fall apart It takes everything in me just to get up each day But it's wonderful to see that you're okay

This whole verse is sooo remniscent of their one-sided perspective from the original betrayal directly after the cabin days. They were both falling apart and resentful of the other because they assumed that it was planned, that they were completely in the right, etc. Although this wasn't the case, the lyrics match BOTH their internal monologues almost to a T. And the "taking everything in them just to get up each day" hits me right in the feels, because with Bill's dependency on cosmic sand and substances during his depressive episode, and Ford's spite, anger, and nightmares keeping him awake and unable to relax, both of them were suffering mroe than they ever had without the other.

Mr. "Insincere apology so he doesn't look like the bad guy" He goes about his day Forgets he ever even heard my name Well, I thought you might be different Than the rest, I guess you're all the same

Obviously the insincere apologies go for Bill in the beginning, whenever he was manipulation Ford before he actually fell in love or whatever gay shit was happening then, but it also goes hand in hand with Ford when he was manipulating Bill in the multiverse, trying to defeat him (His whole honey over vinegar operation and whatnot). Also, Bill definitely goes with the "I guess you're all the same," reminding of his despair when he had originally thought Ford really had been planning the betrayal since the beginning.

ALL IN ALL, they make me sad. :/
