Edson Barboza KOs Billy Quarantillo in the 1st!
It has been an amazing weekend for knees. Billy Q was doing a good job of pressuring Barboza back after some early exchanges in the middle of the cage. Barboza was landing with those powerful kicks to the body, but Billy turned it up and got Barboza along the fence. Tried and failed on a takedown but kept Barboza on the fence. Unfortunately for Billy, he changed levels along the fenc after throwing a jab and ducked right into a knee. Stops a two fight skid. Man is still dangerous.
It’s been cool seeing guys like Barboza, Font; and Munhoz stops skids in the past couple weeks
Burgos’ power and diversity of attack are winning out late. Billy Q’s brand of aggression and attrition mean throwing himself into the wood chipper and this is what happens when you do that with Shane.
Billy Quarantillo stops Gabriel Benitez in the 3rd
Weird fight. Fun fight and definitely FOTN thus far but a weird one. I think Quarantillo broke Benitez’s orbital in the first round but Benitez guts it out to make it to the third. And while Q outlanded Benitez something like 3-1, it really never felt like Benitez was too far out the fight. But Q’s pressure, wrestling and volume proved too much for Benitez. Just stayed on him for the entirety of the fight.
Gavin Tucker takes the UD over Billy Quarantillo
Great great performance from Tucker. Quarantillo tried his best to overload Tucker with volume, the smaller fighter. It started off well enough with him landing on a Tucker who did not have distance quite figured out. Eventually, however, Tucker was able to create enough space to establish range and start causing Quarantillo to miss. And then Tucker would make him pay on the counter. Tucker also did a great job of attacking the body. Quarantillo had success with knees in the clinch but they opened paths to takedowns for Tucker. Good all around performance.
