Brian McRae, Billy Sample, and Jim Leyritz to Star in Horror Movie
No, this wasn't that dream you had after having a curry dish too close to bedtime, this is simply Hollywood Movie Magic making everything you've ever wanted more real than ever.
The three former ballplayers will join a Guns N' Roses bandmate and some Survivor contestents in the film "Gravedigger" that's described as:
"A vigilante serial killer is stalking, killing and burying those he has judged guilty and anyone in this corrupt town could be next! Murder, Mayhem, Blood, Deception & NO way out are a few ways to describe this disturbing new heart pounding thrill ride.”
Which, no offense to Zero Dark Thirty, but this movie seems much, much better. We can only hope this offers up a whole new realm of baseball-star filled horror films like:
"STITCHED." Ken Griffey Jr stars as a doctor who, after tearing his hamstring one too many times, decides to start stitching people together in hopes of creating an unstoppable force. For good or evil? That's for you to decide.
"THE DEVIL WENT DOWN TO STRASBURG." Some people have said that Stephen Strasburg has ungodly movement on his pitches. They have no idea how right they are. Tired of being a nobody all of his life, a young teenaged Strasburg sells his soul to the devil in exchange for his golden right arm. Only problem? With the apocalypse coming, the devil is coming to collect."
"GHOST BASEBALL." In this heartwarming family comedy, the ghosts of former ballplayers rise up and help a failing and bumbling minor league ballclub that's about to be sold to an oil magnate. Only problem? The stadium is built on ancient Indian burial grounds, so there is more at stake than just the pennant. Human souls are the bounty.
"BLOOD RED." Pete Rose and Joe Morgan, the consummate Cincinnati Reds, were always known for their daring play and hustle on the basepaths. Well, they'd better hope they can still turn on the jets because during a joint family vacation to a secluded lake, a mass murderer escapes from a nearby insane asylum, looking for blood. Can the Big Red Machine stop the axe murderer before destroying everything they love? Find out in...BLOOD RED.
Hollywood, call me. I've got those scripts ready to go. And if you want more baseball horror, check out the coverage we've given "Battlefield Baseball" and "The Catcher" starring Joe Estevez.
Random Baseball Card #1486: Billy Sample, outfielder, Texas Rangers, 1983, Donruss.
