sealed with a kiss ( accepting ) : ❝ someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed. ❞ / @billyclubs
it was only until matt's words that anna-marie noticed the deep crease between her brows. and instead of softening, her frown only intensified at his remark. like a stick poking the bee’s nest, it irritated her profoundly. she meant to ignore it, meant to pay no mind to his words. however, as the second passed the annoyance settled into her stomach. why was it that this is how he decided to greet her, first thing in the morning? she didn’t mean to ponder on it, as there wasn’t a actual reason to her irritation, at least she didn't think there was. but having matt comment on it was like noticing a cut on your finger, it only really starts burning once you realize it’s there.
at last, she couldn’t stop the defeated groan that was climbing up her chest and begged to be let out. for some reason, matt really had a way of getting under her skin. and didn’t like it one bit. ❝ mind ya business, maybe? ❞ she mustered him, sitting at his desk across the room with a slight smile on his lips, one she'd seen many times before — one she had wanted to wipe off his face just as many times before as well. however, she felt there was no point to it. instead, she just leaned against the door frame, arms crossed in front of her chest ( in hopes it'd dampen the sound of her beating heart ). ❝ how’d ya even know, huh? ❞
@billyclubs : you know which one
❛ you know , one of these days you're going to eventually switch your order up on me. and i'm immediately going to question if you're a skrull or not. has anyone ever told you that you take the term , ' consistency is key ' , a bit too literally ? ❜
❝ wait ⸺ like, like a distraction? ❞ kon's voice lowers in order to let the devil listen for whatever it is he needs to, blinking rapidly as their own x-ray vision kicks in to look in the direction kon assumes daredevil is listening for. he frowns a little bit, ttk keeping him afloat as it looks back towards daredevil, now a little more *urgently.
their impulses say to kick in and go *take it before it can hurt anyone. superboy floats a little anxiously, probably honestly making it a lot worse than his loud voice would be, ❝ hey ⸺ i'm like, completely indestructible unless there's kryptonite in there. why don't i like ... burst through the concrete and *grab that sucker? i could *totally do that, man. ❞
@billyclubs; continued from here.
the gala invitation had been worth stealing for the open bar alone, but the donor registry list was worth considerably more to the cat burglar. wilson fisk's hope for hell's kitchen legal aid initiative had attracted exactly the kind of people felicia liked to keep tabs on. people rich enough to write six - figure checks, and convinced their generosity removes the target from their back. if there ever was a room overdue for a little wealth redistribution, it was this one.
laughter rolled beneath the orchestra strings as felicia drifted through the crowd, champagne balanced lazily between manicured nails. she charmed strangers from conversation to conversation while quietly cataloguing guest houses, vacation homes, and european châteaus that could fund her next few years if she played her cards right. the room fell silent once wilson fisk stepped onto the stage. paired only with a politician's grin, fisk welcomes matt murdock to the podium as the initiative's surprise guest of honor and honorary legal partner. cameras erupted almost as quickly as the whispers. anyone paying attention, knew the lawyer had spent weeks publicly condemning fisk in the press, and rightfully so. but now, felicia could already guess tomorrow's headlines: murdock and fisk unite for justice. classic fisk. if he couldn't silence his loudest critic, he'd stand beside them on a podium until the photographs and headlines prove otherwise. either murdock walked into the trap knowingly, she figured, or fisk never gave him much of a choice. her eyes stay fixed on the two over the rim of her glass.
the thief had heard plenty about matt murdock. hard to miss lately, actually. hell's kitchen practically treated the lawyer like royalty after everything he's done for the neighborhood. a reputation built on free legal work, impossible victories, and goodwill that couldn't be bought. felicia didn't blame him for humoring fisk, how could she ? if he refused the invitation, fisk would quietly feed the press stories about how the city's favorite attorney turned down opportunities to raise money for hell's kitchen. it was exactly the sort of trap only fisk knew how to build.
the feline takes a sip of champagne as the media swarms the lawyer and businessman, and she turns to search for her next mark. somewhere beneath the orchestra strings and the movement of the crowd, a man in a charcoal suit appeared near the ballroom doors, an earpiece hidden beneath his collar. soon after, another man settled beside the staircase, waiting. felicia pivots to the other side of the ballroom and she quietly catches a third man repositioning near the terrace entrance, closer to her. she knows this dance all too well to mistake it as coincidence. it was a net, and it was slowly closing in. she had minutes, if that, before her cover was blown. gaze sweeps the room once more, then again, before landing on matt murdock, just as he finishes with a cluster of reporters. he's visible and surrounded by hundreds of cameras, protected by the kind of attention fisk's security couldn't disrupt without making a scene. it'd have to do. casually, the thief crosses the ballroom, arriving right as another reporter starts circling the lawyer,
“ mr. murdock, ” she interjects with a light hand settling against his shoulder, a practiced warmth blooming into her smile, “ ─the reporters have had you for long enough. ” her smile widens, “ ─my turn to steal you, ” black nails hook under his lapel and there's a playful tug towards the dancefloor, “ ─surely the guest of honor owes at least one dance to the people funding the cause. ”
@billyclubs ❤'d to play with the cat !

THE MAN'S REFLEXES WERE INSANE . caleb's own couldn't even touch this guy's . it was beyond impressive . the agent is rolling his shoulders with his approach to the masked man , eyes scanning over the sprawled bodies around him . " hey , man . badassery comes in many different forms . even desperate badassery . "
head tilts at the question and he has to rub at the back of his head . " they got the jump on me --- i'm not afraid to admit that . my pride is more wounded than my body . one got me on the back of the head . " it had definitely left him dazed for a long moment . it was mostly why he hadn't been as much help as he wanted during that fight .
then gaze sees the crimson --- a different shade from the suit he wore . " but hey --- yo man --- you're bleeding . " boots bring him closer for a better look , " i got a medical kit back in my car . " he wasn't a doctor but he did have field training from the marines .
" —beautiful. " hiding such a thing behind glasses and masks, he earns the tut that admonishes him. scolds the shame of emptied sockets while leant closer, " you mentioned you were in the city when it happened, " on the phone, when he'd made a call unprompted. it was fascinating what one detour could bring. deviating from his life's work for an opportunity to indulge himself in another sort of otherness. bending at the knees, an old, bothersome ache plays games with back ever-arched. for this, gideon ignores it. for this, he's passive hums and the gentle coax of a thumb, near but not yet invading its target. mr. murdock wouldn't be so cooperative if he did that.. no, it's the doctor's good intentions that keep him seated, the leather of the chair worn from years and years of new admissions. " would you mind if i took a sample ? i'm quite confident i could find your answer for you. "
