Couple Injured In Boston Bombing Treated To Dream Wedding

Thanks to TheKnot.com, a couple who survived the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing were given their dream wedding on Friday.

Rebekah Gregory and Pete DiMartino were married in Asheville, N.C. Friday afternoon. The pair was waiting at the finish line last April when they were sent flying after the first bomb exploded.  DiMartino required surgery on his Achilles tendon and both eardrums. Gregory suffered injuries to her left leg and is scheduled to have it amputated later this year.

The tragedy brought the two closer together, and they became engaged in October. Friday, they celebrated their marriage on the grounds of the picturesque Biltmore Estates. The ceremony and reception was arranged by celebrity planner Marcy Blum, along with TheKnot.com.

Guests at the ceremony included the bride’s father and son who both walked her down the aisle. The guests were then treated to a cocktail hour followed by a tented dinner on the grounds. These details, as well as every other element of the wedding down to hair and makeup, were chosen by the readers of TheKnot.com.

The couple chose to spend a few days honeymooning in the Dominican Republic this next week.  TheKnot.com will be providing a longer trip to Thailand later this year.

While the couple still has obstacles to overcome, their wedding day was a magical one to be remembered. The bride told PEOPLE, “"Come next year, when we're in the month of April, we're not going to say, 'This is the month we got blown up.’ We'll say, 'This is the month we got married.'"
