Anyway I think the goldbugs risk crucifying us on a cross of gold. A platinum standard would have beneficial countercyclical effects as it gets pulled out of circulation to make industrial catalysts during boom times, then gets minted during recessions. This will act as a monetary stimulus during downturns.
