“all bisexuals are greedy” stereotype is actualy just statistical error. The average bisexual isn’t particularly greedy. The current leadership of BiNet USA, who has tried to claim copyright ownership over the bi flag that has been in use for over 20 years and has been making a fool of themselves demanding license agreements on Twitter, is an outlier adn should not have been counted.

lol binet is trying to claim they own the rights to the bi flag and that you have to work out a "deal" with them before you can make money off anything using the design. this is despite the fact that michael page, the creator of the bi flag, has said "The Bi Pride Flag is the only bisexual symbol not patented, trademarked or service marked."

they are literally lying. do not listen to them and make sure you let other people know that they don't have to cut a fucking deal with anyone to use the bi flag in shit. protect each other from people trying to use our community under the guise of copyright.

so, uh, has anyone else noticed that BiNet took a swan dive into utter lunacy? the current president, Faith Cheltenham, the same person who thought copyrighting the bi flag was a good idea (then claimed that BiNet had NEVER tried to copyright the bi flag), initially said they were stepping down as president because of that whole thing, but like three weeks ago they said actually they WEREN’T stepping down, also they were coming out as a Trump supporter and boycotting all social media presence for BiNet other than on Parler because of how unfairly Twitter et. al. treated Donald Trump, apparently.

So a “non-profit” group is trying to copywrite the bi flag, so I made the Fuck BiNet flag in response. Here is the description of what it is from my twitter: “I made a new bisexual flag called the "Fuck BiNet" flag. The three bars are equal in size, symbolizing femininity/non-binary/masculinity being equally bi and equally valid to be attracted to. The fact it exists represents anti corporation activism and anger at people trying to copywrite our flag. This flag is explicitly anti-capitalist, and any individual who wants to is free to use it. Corporations are explicitly disallowed to use aside from production and selling of the "Fuck BiNet" flag. Also BiNet is explicitly disallowed from using it at all.”

Just a heads up, because I haven’t seen it discussed much on here: Faith Cheltenham, the person directly responsible for BiNet USA’s attempt to copyright the bi pride flag at the expense of indie queer creators, is actively doxxing and outing people who criticize her on her personal twitter account @/thefayth. She has posted the full names and contact information of several people, and at the time of this post has refused to remove them. Please be careful, especially if you decide to contact BiNet directly to criticize her behavior.

BiNet USA claims to own IP copyright rights to the bisexual flag and has threatened organizations and individuals who do not pay them for the usage rights.

not sure if this article has been posted or not since i’ve been busy proofreading papers during this whole fiasco, but this is a good source for anyone a bit lost on what’s going on.  this article has been compiling many of the screenshots from both twitter and facebook as well adding legal perspectives and sources for those.  it has also been regularly updating.
