There are lots of fics where so-and-so dies and then wakes up in the past. What about one where they die and wake up in the future? Think of a Rogue One fix-it. They still “die” on Scarif, but then boom, suddenly they’re on D’qar. Poe finds Bodhi wandering in the hangar, Cassian and Jyn invade Ops, Chirrut and Baze are watching over Finn (or going to bother Rey and Luke if they’re back). Bonus points if Kaytu manages to be there as well. And VERY offended about it because this is NOT how things work.
Some of the people on base are old enough to remember them. Others, like Poe, grew up on stories about them. He’s gonna fanboy hard when he realizes who Bodhi is. The gang in general will be uncomfortable with their fame and are going to be really damn pissed that they died to help win a war only for it all to start over again almost immediately.
To help fight the First Order the Resistance is going to need some Old School sensibilities.
