BIO:
Born in Vancouver, BC to immigrants from Shanghai, Adelaide has humble beginnings. Her father had come to Vancouver on a students visa where he studied business at the University of British Columbia. Her mother had immigrated years prior to live with her older brother and help him run his restaurant. When Addy was born they had been living in a modest two-bedroom apartment, but by the time she was ten they had a luxurious home overlooking the water. Her father had become a professor and her mother was now part owner of her brother’s business, which now had franchises all over the territory.
Like her father, Adelaide studied at the University of British Columbia but when it became apparent her interest was in design - she headed off to Paris. After completing her degree there, she had a few internships, most notably one in Milan and another in New York. Addy was a hard worker - always staying humble about her work but not afraid to speak up and let her thoughts be heard.
It took years, but at the age of 38, Addy got her big break. She was featured in Italian Vogue which lead to a show at Milan Fashion Week. She became a household name and her designs were worn on the red carpet. Finally able to follow her passions, Addy focuses on unisex clothing along with menswear designs for women. Her suits are highly sought after but in order to be as accessible as possible, she has some brick and mortar stores along with a cheaper line at Lord and Taylor. Vancouver remains her home office, but Adelaide has apartments in New York, Paris, Milan and most recently, Hong Kong.
