Living in Japan changed my perspective on my arts practice. Their wellness culture is incredible to experience.
It all started with the Big Bang...
My initial reaction to the brief was that I wanted to do something revolved around science. Although I wasn’t great at the actual subject in school, I’ve always had a huge interest in anything related to science and experimentation. So from this idea, I expanded it to “what if all ethical issues in science were legal”. I don’t think I’ve worded that correctly but basically I wanted to imagine a world where eg. scientists were completely free to experiment on animals/humans without it being morally wrong. I read about issues such as abortion, genetic research, IVF, nanotechnology, animal testing, the creation of nuclear bombs and so many other controversial issues that I already have a huge interest in. The one that popped out at me most was cloning. The idea of cloning is something that amazes me. Perhaps this idea isn’t broad enough and requires a bit more research. I’m still a bit confused as to what to do but I know I want it to be experiment-based.
