Ok why is my brain thinking about biology again and for some reason the whole Racheal Bighead thing is also kinda clever since she is a frog/toad

Plz note: This post is in no way meant to be transphobic to anyone who does identify as so, just a little interesting thing I noticed that connects to real-world biology regarding frogs and a clever way of portraying a character (I’m just putting this here to be safe just in-case since this subject can be touchy with some people.)

While the Tv Tropes article says she’s based on a Cane Toad but there are actual frog species that can in fact change their sex/gender (Pretty clever way for introducing a transgender character in a show about anthropomorphic animals. And while this is parallel in the show to how this is seen in humans, we’ll only be focusing on how frogs do this (Which is much different) and plus we don’t know how this happened in universe which could have gone either way for all we know… I’m thinking too hard on this, plus we have frogs with mammal traits so I’ll just stop here XD.)

Cane toads are sadly not one of them (It was a myth but believed for a while about this species that was eventually proven false) but Reed Frogs and Green Frogs are, and it’s not just due to pollutants in their natural habitat as scientists have proven that their species do change gender/sex in healthy environments as well but still pretty clever as someone did do some research and I wouldn’t be surprised if these other species were considered.

Though sometimes Cane Toads can develop male/female characteristics through external factors like pesticides and the like cause we all know how amphibian skin works.

It's so strange to me how life can be so strong, yet so fragile. For example, animals (especially smaller prey animals) can perish from something as simple as eating a little bit of inorganic material, or getting a bit too scared. On the other hand, they can also be amazingly resilient. After disasters strike, small creatures like insects and rodents are the first to return, gradually welcoming in all other kinds of bigger flora & fauna. My pet frog literally died via accidentally consuming a pebble, yet the enclosed jar ecosphere filled with rotting plant material on my desk is still thriving, despite having no external nutrients or oxygen.
