i’m learning to draw robots! here’s day 5 of robot grinding, an experiment in quickly spamming mechanical visual noise.
also tacking on to this post a thing scrawled quickly after waking up, because it’s by far the oddest character i’ve ever been in a dream. their name was 'ter and val', but rendered as a single word, terandval. they were an alien evacuating with a huge group of human refugees who treated them with great mistrust and outright hostility, but terandval didn't have the capacity to feel the emotion ‘offense’. they approached everything with a dolphinlike heavy handed cheerfulness. they had decided they would accompany and befriend the humans, and that’s all there was to it, their fear and rudeness were irrelevant. each of their heads had an individual brain with its own personality (hence the two names), but the brains were connected through a neural network so they shared one single experience, much like the hemispheres of our own brain, so it was traditional to string their two names together into one word. i got the impression that it was possible for their species to survive with a single head, but the thought of losing a head was a source of deepest cultural fear. each head contained a ‘tongue’ very like a soft wet human arm for tasks too delicate for their front feet, and each of their eyestalks had four whiskers which were manipulatory tools for precision tasks on an almost microscopic level. they were shaped almost like a crude distortion of a headless centaur and a human stood about as high as the ‘torso’. terandval liked to collect shards of colourful ceramics from human garbage dumps.
