i keep thinking of bipin. his family and friends fought so hard for him. i hope that somehow he knew that.

When he left for Israel on Sept. 13, Bipin reassured his mother, a teacher like his father, that he would be fine. “I will see the world,” he told her. (x)

In his first days in Israel, he wrote a poem to his mother in his diary, which was among his belongings later sent to the family. His sister provided a translation:

“Mother, your little child has grown so tall, / Yet I still run to your arms when I fall,” he wrote. “Mother, today I chase horizons wide, / But your lullabies still echo inside.” (x)

The bodies of Bipin Joshi and Guy Illuz have been identified.

Guy died in captivity from wounds that were not treated. He was 26 when he died.

Assessments say Bipin was murdered by Hamas while in captivity. He was 23 when murdered.

Two other hostages have been identified, though their names are being kept private.

May their memories be a blessing and may Hashem avenge their blood.
