I really really wish that when someone makes a character inspired by (insert thing here) they would actually take the time out to actually research and interact with people from that culture or who experience that thing or is in general part of that demographic to get a feel for what they’re writing for.
It’s a lot better than it used to be in this community, sure, but I do still see a few here and there where the character is nothing more than a caricature (i,e: someone who has a character with a disability but all that character does is shit talk themselves for having that disability and talking themselves down) of what that creator perceives that particular demographic to be. It’s like.. It’s not fun and it’s not cute.

Hey I don’t care if your character is/was a slave and that’s something you wanna rp and a story you wanna get out there but there is a tactful way of writing and drawing things of that nature. And I just don’t think it’s very cute or fun to broadcast it 24/7 consistently.
“This is (x) the (ex)slave!!” like.... Okay that’s cool I guess, do they have hobbies? A last name even?
