I actually believe if they're killing off a character in lore it will be Reinhardt. He is the oldest, been through the most of all the Overwatch Agents (i.e. being a Crusader and a previous Soldier Enhancement experiment as ALL the Crusaders were ((and i'm pretty sure they were developed before the SEP that Jack and Gabe are from meaning potential drawbacks?)) and other big battles before joining Overwatch) which would ALSO draw for more lore between the Lindholms, Amari's, and possibly more?

it does make sense, (also sorry for late reply but i dozed off) but DAMn if it wouldn’t hurt
they’ve been giving him some attention recently, with the animated short and then brigitte’s arrival
it’d do that poor girl so much pain to realise she failed in the one thing she joined overwatch to do right -keep him safe, as she means to keep them all safe
and if he truly died, at least i’d expect them to address how many people he thought were dead who did not die. gods, the pit of regrets this would open up instead makes me want to c r y
