I just love it when you find an old recipe in an old book. This one - for 7Up Cake - was written on the back of a vintage Bi-Rite Grocery pamphlet. It was found amidst the pages of an early 1970’s edition of The Cosmo Girl’s Guide to The New Etiquette, which focuses primarily on the etiquette of all things love, sex and dating. Oh my, cake on a mission. The moment I discovered my favorite Ice Cream

It was a beautiful day to take pictures in San Francisco. Even being part of California, this city almost never has a bright sunny day, it’s very chilly.

We took this opportunity to go to Dolores Park and eat ice cream on Bi-Rite Creamery. This place produces a homemade organic ice cream with very unusual flavors such as Creme Brulee, Cannoli and Salted Caramel. My favorite is Ricanelas, it’s a mix of cinnamon and snickerdoodles (a type of cookie). SO GOOD! If you are here in SF don’t miss a quickly visit to this place.

A tip if you want more than just a scoop of ice cream: They sell pints and quarts at Bi-Rite Market, right across the street. It’s a good way to bring back home. Yum!
