n today's episode of "State of Current Affairs," hosts Lillian Cauldwell and Viki Esther Chang delve into the presence of chemicals in marine animals that are part of our daily diets. Since the late 20th century, mercury has been detected in swordfish, yet consumption persists whether frozen or fresh. More recently, scientists have found traces of chemicals in salmon. This isn't surprising, given that many drugs end up in the sea during shipment, leading to incidents where sharks have ingested these substances and been affected by cocaine and other chemicals. The pollution of our oceans has also contributed to declining fertility rates in Western countries. While much of this is attributed to Generation X, Y, and Z opting out of parenthood, economic factors and societal views on parenthood as a threat to individual survival and living standards also play a significant role.
