from my understanding the word ‘dreadlocks’ and even ‘dreads’ has negative connotations within the black community, so the language has shifted from calling them ‘dreads’ to ‘locs’. there’s information on this somewhere idk
yeah i knew "dreads" has a bad history (just looked it up, apparently it comes from the word "dreadful," no wonder), but in response to if there's a difference in the actual hairstyle or not i presume the answer's still no, locs/locks are just more acceptable name?
