Character conflict makes for good movies. They're doing the same thing they did with the first half of Avengers, only in an extended fashion. They're all going to fight for a while but when they make up, set aside their differences, and band together, the payoff will be even better.

I mean I don’t think you're wrong. Part of me is excited at that possibility because character conflict stories that end in conflict resolution is one of my favorite kinds of story. And I think if anyone could do Civil War in an interesting way by relating it to current world events, it would be the Russos. So I’m hoping that the story will follow the disagree -> fight -> make-up path in the movie adaptation, because I’d be very interested to see that

BUT I’ve been burned too many times with Civil War. People still take sides about Civil War in comics and even though the conflict is long over for most characters in comics, it’s still impacting the way writers write Cap and Iron Man’s friendship and it’s been the better part of decade. The stupid Incursion arc is basically Civil War in a different setting. I’m just tired of it. I want it to end but Marvel seems determined not to let that happen.
